
Footwear Tester Bid for the Federal Technical and Vocational Training Institute
On September 14th last year, we wrote an article about Tender for Leather Tester at The Federal Technical and Vocational Training Institute. The machines in the article were not comprehensive, and only included three machines: Soling materials abrasion machine, Whole sole flexing machine, and Shoe lace abrasion machine (Lace to eyelet method). Some readers are curious about what other machines there are, and I will introduce them below.

Bata belt flexing machine
determine the severity of the flexing action. Equipment should be supplied complete with three small pulleys of varying diameters to increase or decrease the amount of flexing. endless belt that accommodate six sole units, subject to the style and size. Sole units bonded to the belt using a strong adhesive. belt made of canvas and construction allows the number of complete cycles to be counted which is equal to the number of flexes of the test sample. The flexing area is provided with a full guard interlocked with the machine controls to ensure the guard cannot be opened until the belt has stopped. machine should be suitable for the testing of all shoe sole units and should be used with other flexible materials.

General requirement
The machine shall be equipped with three freewheeling slightly crowned flexing roller (inter changeable), a driven slightly crowned roller, a flexible continuous belt of cotton canvas, a motor driving the larger roller at a speed of 247 rev./min. so that the belt completes 90 flexing cycles/minute, a programmable digital counter supplied with operating instructions, maintenance instruction, conformity/calibration certificate for recognized/accredited organization, canvas belt, 3 interchangeable rollers (60,90,120 mm).

Cotton canvas is 2-ply 100% cotton having a mass per area of (500±25) g/m2 the extension at break along the belt of (14±2) % at a breaking. Force of (2000 ± 200) N. The corresponding across-the belt values are (14±) % and (750±50) N.

Whole shoe flexing Machine (Dry & Wet)
whole shoe flexing machine designed to determine the resistance of shoe during flexing. . machine should be supplied in both single or twin station formats and the action simulates the flexing of footwear during wear. The angle of flex should be adjustable up to 50°.
Footwear should clamped to the machine at the toe end using the appropriate toe clamp. heel end secured to the flexing bar. A predetermining counter fitted. moving parts of the machine should be covered by a hinged guard which is fitted with the latest safety device to prevent access while the machine is still in use. machine should robust and non- corrosive materials used where applicable in its construction. General requirement
to determine the resistance of whole shoe in dry and wet during flexing and allows assessing several important aspects. The samples or specimen to be tested using the machine includes all types of footwear. The tester shall flex the footwear in dry and water contained in a clear polycarbonate tank. The tester shall be equipped with twin station machine comprising two separate tanks and two independent flexing mechanisms and each station shall have an independent control to raise and lower the footwear in and out of the tank. The machine shall be both dry and wet flexing interface. List and quantity of all necessary spare part supplied to run the machine in both dry and wet condition. Adjustable flexing angle 0-100º. Internal shoe size gauge
Internal shoe size gauge designed to determine the size of footwear. flat bar inserted in the shoe and pushed into the toe. Movable slider along the scale until the curved bar touches the heel. longest length should be found by moving the device vertically and locating the curved bar to the point of maximum heel curvature. size of the footwear read off the scale. four versions of the internal shoe size gauge which cover the adults’ sizes 11-14 and children’s sizes 3-7, Adults’ scale in English sizes, Adult’s scale in millimetres, Children’s scale in English sizes, Children’s scale in millimetres.
