Dear Customers and Partners, Please be informed that FYI Tester will observe the 2026 National Day holiday from October 1 to October 7, 2026. During the holiday period, our office will be closed for the National Day holiday. Our normal…
The ASTM D3107 test method measures the elongation and recovery properties of woven fabrics containing elastic yarns (wholly or in part) after subjecting them to specific tension and elongation. This standard is primarily applicable to woven fabrics that exhibit high…
Textile snagging refers to a surface defect caused when yarns or fibers within the fabric are caught by a sharp object. It typically manifests as protrusions—such as loops of yarn or fiber, fiber bundles, or fuzz—where fibers or yarns are…
ISO 12945-1:2020, *Textiles — Determination of fabric propensity to surface pilling, fuzzing or matting — Part 1: Pilling box method*, was officially published in October 2020, replacing the original first edition (ISO 12945-1:2000). It is worth noting that this update…
Fabric fuzzing and pilling are significant factors affecting a fabric's hand feel, appearance, and performance in use; consequently, they are key quality indicators closely monitored by clients in international trade. This article focuses on the principles and methods of major…
Yarn evenness spectrogram analysis helps spinning mills detect periodic variations, mechanical faults, and recurring yarn defects. By examining spectrogram patterns and wavelengths, manufacturers can identify potential sources of irregularities and take corrective action. This supports effective quality control, reduces production…
When you measure yarn evenness, control the testing environment to obtain dependable results. Temperature, relative humidity, static electricity, and conditioning conditions can influence yarn behavior and instrument measurements. By maintaining a controlled laboratory environment, you can reduce measurement variation and…
On June 19, 2009, the National Technical Committee on Textiles of Standardization Administration of China issued GB/T 4802.4—2009, *Textiles—Determination of fabric propensity to surface fuzzing and to pilling—Part 4: Random tumble method* (hereinafter referred to as "this Standard"), which came…
In daily life, garments often develop fuzz or pills on specific areas or across the entire fabric after a period of wear; consequently, fabric pilling resistance testing has become increasingly important and widespread, as it directly affects the aesthetic appeal…
Testing speed and testing time will determine if the evenness measurements are repeatable. Generally, most staple yarns are tested at a speed of 400 m/min to provide a sample length of 400 meters. Roving is tested at 25–50 m/min, and…
The evenness of yarns is directly related to the quality of yarns, the appearance of the fabric, the various processes, and the stability of the end products. This guide will provide information on how to check the evenness of yarns…
To check the uniformity and consistency of yarn, sliver, or roving, an Evenness Tester helps to ensure quality. It also detects irregularities, including thin, thick, and rough parts. Sometimes fiber knots cause problems at different stages of the spinning process,…
