Y301 Sliver and Roving Length Sampler is a hand-operated apparatus used to wind a certain length of slivers or rovings made of cotton, wool, silk, etc., then to determine the linear density (count) of slivers or rovings by using a precise balance.
The apparatus is composed of a platen with a circumference of 1m or 1yard, fixture where the platen’s shaft are mounted on both sides and an upper roller. With the handle mounted on one end of the shaft to turn the platen, the sample length can be measured by counting the number of turns of the platen.
