One of Ethiopia’s original universities is Hawassa University. Hawassa College of Agriculture (ACA), which was founded in 1976 with 217 students, was its precursor. After ACA merged with two other southern Ethiopian colleges—Wondogenet Forestry and Natural Resources College, founded in 1978, and Dilla Teachers’ Education and Health Sciences College, founded in 1996—it was restructured and upgraded to become “Debub University” in 2000. Dilla Teachers’ Education and Health Sciences College became an autonomous university in 2006 when it was renamed “Hawassa University” and a main campus was established in Hawassa.

Currently, Hawassa University (HU) is one of the first generation universities in Ethiopia, with 9 colleges, 3 institutes and 7 campuses located in and around the city of Hawassa. While the Faculty of Forestry and Natural Resources, the Faculty of Business and Economics, and the Daye Campus are situated in Wodognet, Yilgalem, and Bensa Daye, respectively, the remainder of the university’s seven campuses—Main Campus, Polytechnic, Faculty of Agriculture, and Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences—are situated in the city of Hawassa.

To accomplish its objectives, HU has formed enduring alliances with a variety of domestic and foreign partners, collaborating closely on research, teaching, and community service. Consequently, HU has 63 joint projects with 101 international and 91 local partners (53 foreign and 10 local). The United States, Norway, Germany, and the United Kingdom are the primary funders of many of HU’s collaborative projects. One or two of HU’s collaborative projects are also funded by other nations and international organizations, including the Netherlands, Italy, Japan, Sweden, Australia, Belgium, the United Nations, and the European Union.

Hawassa University issued a tender on August 25, 2020 to purchase engineering laboratories equipment, electronics and furniture. Package 5 includes Equipment for Garment Lab. The technical requirements of these machines are listed below.
