Fiber Fineness and Tenacity Test

Test methods explanation

We have tested 5 fiber samples using two solutions to test fiber fineness and tenacity: Solution 1 and solution 2.

Solution 1

We use YG002C measured the fiber diameter, and YG005S tested the break force and extension. The fiber density is converted to denier from diameter using the formula. Then use the break force divide the density to get the tenacity. Please move to TABLE 1 to view the test result. We have attached YG002C parameter sheet in Appendix 1 and YG005S parameter sheets in Appendix 2.

Solution 2

We use ZK100F measured the fiber density, and YG005X tested the break force, extension, and tenacity. Please move to TABLE 2 to view the test result. We have attached ZK100F parameter sheet in Appendix 3 and YG005X parameter sheet in Appendix 4.

  • This table is tested use two machines, YG002C measured the fiber diameter, and YG005S tested the break force and extension.
  • Conversion formula:

D=π*d²/4*9000*ρ*10-6

d= 11.89 * (D /ρ)1/2

D=(d/11.89)2*ρ

D is denier

d is fiber diameter, μm;

ρ is polyester density, we use 1.38g/cm³

A better solution for fiber density and tenacity testing

We also have a YG005XD AUTOMATIC FIBER TENSILE AND FINENESS TEST SYSTEM, which has integrated function of ZK100F and YG005X; it is equipped with a mechanical arm; As long as the operator clamps the tested fiber sample into the holder of the vibrating fineness test device, press the start button, the instrument tests the fiber linear density, and then the sample is sent to the tensile test device through the mechanical arm, and the continuous test of the fiber linear density and tensile properties is automatically completed. The test operation is more automatic and convenient. But YG005XD is not available at present, we produce the machine according to order, so we can’t use it test your sample this time; We also attached YG005XD specification sheet in Appendix 5.

Appendix 1: YG002C Specification sheet

APPLICATION:

YG002C Series Computerized Fiber Fineness Analysis System applies to determine fiber diameter or sectional area rapidly in laboratories. The instrument connects optical microscope and computer by high-resolution industrial camera. The fiber diameter and sectional area testing can be completed by professional analysis software, and the content of each fiber in blended fiber can be measured.

APPLICATION:

ZK100F Fiber Linear Density Tester is suitable to determine linear density of single fiber by means of vibroscope method. It is widely used in production enterprises, testing organizations and scientific research units for chemical fiber, textile, etc.

The major working principle is to determine natural vibration frequency of fiber under specific vibration length and tension, and then automatically calculates and displays the linear density of single fiber.

When connecting ZK100F Fiber Linear Density Tester with YG005X Fiber Tensile Tester, the strength, modulus, force at specified elongation of the single fiber can be determined. This system complies with international chemical fiber testing standards, also has stable performance and high test accuracy.

APPLICATION:

YG005X Fiber Tensile Tester is used to perform the tensile test of a dry/wet fiber, and to display the measured individual value, mean value, variation coefficient of fiber breaking force, breaking elongation, and force at specified elongation. The operation of the tester is controlled by the computer, and during a tensile test the real time force-elongation curve is displayed on the computer screen. The measured data are analyzed and saved in the computer.

When connecting ZK100F Fiber Linear Density Tester with YG005X Fiber Tensile Tester with a data line, the density result can be transmit to YG005X software to participate in calculation of fiber tenacity, the linear density, fiber strength, fiber tenacity, modulus and specific work can be determined automatically, no need manual calculating. This system complies with international chemical fiber testing standards, also has stable performance and high test accuracy.
