How to check the quality of mask?
In mask testing and quality control process, EN 143 & GB2626, these two standards are very critical. In this test, mask tester is one type of filter material tester. After a test, two results will be displayed in the report, such as particle penetration value (efficiency) and air flow resistance
The operation of mask tester is simple, highly automated. The operator, places a filter or mask on the lower half of the filter holder. The test is initiated by pressing the dual start buttons. A pneumatic cylinder quickly lowers the top half of the mask or filter holder and aerosol is passed through the mask or filter. Two light-scattering laser photometers simultaneously measure the upstream and downstream aerosol concentration levels at a constant flow that is reported with the flow meter.
Some mask tester or filter material tester use only one optical particle counter (OPC), if so, operator has to conduct two times of test, with sample or without sample, then compare the result to get test report.
In Msi machine or our machine TF140, we all use two laser photometers,The particle penetration value is determined from the ratio of these two readings. By using two laser photometers, instead of one, measurement cycle time is reduced and measurement accuracy is increased. A highly accurate electronic pressure transducer determines filter resistance. Pressure transducer and photometer readings are taken between every test to determine the new pressure offset and photometer background values. When the test is complete, the filter holder opens automatically. All test data is displayed and available for printer or serial output.
Are there any other mask testers which may be applicable for medical mask?
Mask fitting tester or Respirator fit tester is also one type of medical mask tester.
This tester counts the number of dust particles outside and inside the mask, and obtains the penetration rate (leakage rate %) of dust into the mask.
The tester uses the dust floating in the room or sodium chloride particles generated by a particle generator (option) as test particles.
Who is the supplier of these mask tester and how about the price of them?
For filter material tester, as a basic and critical mask tester, in America, TSI & ATI are the manufacturer, the price is approximate USD100,000 without customs duty depending on different model.
